You
can’t get a real taste of Menorca
unless you sample some real Menorcan products. There are
plenty of good restaurants serving authentic local dishes, and
a variety of shops and markets where you can buy locally made
products including wines, cheeses, pastries, shoes and
fashion items. And Menorcan Sandals.
Did
you know? • Held every May, Mahon is
host to one Europe’s largest costume
jewellery fairs. • Local
mushrooms (Setas) are orange and green, they may look
a bit weird but they taste out of this world.
•
Mayonnaise celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2006. Legend
has it a French nobleman named it in
honour of his lover who came from Mahon. |
Here are a few things
to whet your appetite...

Eats:
Sample some Ensaimadas (Spiral pastries) Armargas
(Almond cakes) and Menorcan Gin. They are all fabulous. Try a
waterside restaurant in the Port at Mahon or Es Castell or
Ciutadella. Great food and the perfect place to sit and watch the rich
sail by.
